Why is Carat Sage’s jewellery setting or casing prices so affordable?
We hail from a family factory in the third generation specialising in fine jewellery crafting. Hence we can offer direct-from-factory prices for our jewellery casings or settings.
We have the bonus advantage of internal quality control for your customised order.
Is custom-made jewellery more expensive than ready-made jewellery?
The difference of pricing is usually negligible for simpler designs. For designs that use more metal weight, or are more complex that it requires additional labour hours, there may be a wider difference in price. We are always happy to provide comparisons in quotation options when you consult us, so that you can make an informed decision.
Where do you manufacture your jewellery?
We manufacture from our in-house factory located in Malaysia, which specialises in fine jewellery made with gold and platinum and set with stones. In Malaysia, we are the only specialised workshop that can craft expertly for platinum and has the longest known local experience in manufacturing high jewellery of exceptional international quality.
Can you replicate or copy a famous ring design for me?
It is illegal to replicate a patented design, and we are an ethical business. We can however, analyse elements of a design that inspires you and personalise it for your unique story. There are also certain designs that contain generic settings widely used in the industry, which we can create without dispute.
Check out Ring Size Guide to measure your ring size at home.
Visit our showroom to get your ring size measured, or for tips to get her ring size measured discreetly for a surprise proposal.
What if I got my initial ring size wrong?
We got you covered, in a free one-time resizing service, where it is possible to resize your ring up or down 2 sizes. For example, a ring size 10 can be resized up to size 12 or down to size 8.
If you can’t measure your partner’s ring size, it is advisable to consult us before you order so that we can assist you to estimate her ring size as closest as possible.
How long will ring sizing take?
It takes within 7 -10 working days. Contact us ASAP if you have an urgent request and we will arrange internally.
Can I propose with a temporary setting?
Yes we provide this option, where after your proposal, you can then bring your partner over for the ring design customisation process.
We do pride ourselves in being the design experts, so even if you do engage our custom design services without your partner for a romantic surprise, we will advise on a setting that best suits her personality and your requirements, that we are confident she will love.
Why are your diamonds lowest priced?
Diamond prices are heavily dependent on efficient sourcing. We leverage on our factory’s economies of scale to source from established diamond cutters for wholesale prices with the lowest-in-market markup, on top of wide choice of online inventory.
Do you offer natural diamonds, or lab-grown diamonds?
Yes we offer both natural-mined diamonds and lab-grown diamonds. Visit us to view and compare. Read here for a rundown on their similarities and differences.
Do your diamonds come with grading certification?
Yes, for solitaire diamonds above 0.30 carats, natural diamonds are GIA-certified, whereas lab-grown diamonds are IGI-certified.
Diamonds below 0.30 carat are not formally certified but our tax invoice stands as our guarantee for authenticity.
Is my diamond laser inscribed?
Yes, our diamonds currently graded by GIA and IGI are laser inscribed on the girdle with an identification number.
Can I buy a setting without buying a diamond?
Yes you are welcome to book an appointment with us for a consultation. Please bring along your stone for us to inspect and advise on its suitability for setting.
What is diamond fluorescence and does it matter?
When exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light, some diamonds temporarily luminesce, emitting visible light of various colours such as blue, white, yellow, orange or red. Depending on the strength of the fluorescence, it may cause the stone to appear milky or hazy, and does impact on the value and future valuations of the stone. It is advisable to view such stones in our ready stock, to make the best-informed decision.
Can I upgrade my Carat Sage diamond?
We provide a Diamond Upgrade programme for eligible natural diamonds purchased directly from Carat Sage, where terms and conditions apply. Consult us for more information.
Does Carat Sage offer alternative gemstones such as sapphire, tourmaline, emerald, etc.?
Yes, contact us for a consultation.
How do I care for my Carat Sage jewellery?
We recommend scheduling regular cleanings for your jewellery every three months, or if you notice a decline in its sparkle. At Carat Sage, we offer a complimentary cleaning service to ensure your jewellery maintains its radiance. However, if you prefer to care for your jewellery at home, we’ve provided a guide here for proper jewellery care.
Why does my white gold jewellery turn yellow over time?
White gold is naturally slightly yellowish, and plated with rhodium for the cool white finishing. Overtime with wear and usage, it is natural for the rhodium plating to wear off and reveal the original white gold colour underneath. It is advisable to replate white gold rings every 2 to 3 years.
What is included in your lifetime service offered?
For Carat Sage signed jewellery, our lifetime service includes free jewellery cleaning whenever you visit us during boutique hours and complimentary checking of the piece’s condition.
Jewellery requires delicate care, as in the case for bags and cars. We accept Carat Sage jewellery for repairs, replating or polishing, where it will incur minimal servicing labour fees and additional material costs if any.
